Sunlight Mountain Resort delivers a full day on the slopes for a fraction of the cost of the mega-resorts - and parking is free.
Just 10 miles (≈ 15 min drive) above Glenwood Springs, Colorado on the scenic Fire Mountain Road, Sunlight feels like a hidden gem with big-mountain views of the Elk Range and Mount Sopris. With 2,010 feet of vertical, 680 acres of terrain, and an average of 250 inches of snow each year, you’ll find everything from groomers and cruisers to open aspen glades and legit steeps.
Three chairlifts access terrain that’s 20% beginner, 55% intermediate, 20% advanced, and 5% expert, and every run funnels right back to the cozy base lodge.
You’ll also find all the essentials - restaurant, lounge, rentals, retail shop, ski school, kids’ center, snowmobile tours - without the attitude, the crowds, the price tag, or runway fashion show. Nobody cares what coat you’re wearing or what you’re driving.
Exciting news for the season: The new Segundo lift will be upgraded to a triple chair, while the Primo lift will be replaced with a quad chair. Both lifts will feature modern amenities including restraint bars and footrests, enhancing safety and comfort for all riders.
Craving bragging rights? The East Bench offers some of the most underrated expert runs in Colorado—steep, tight, and beautifully gladed.
