Aspenwood House is located on Gold MEDAL WATERS with fishery consistently producing a trout standing stock of at least 60 pounds per acre and produces an average of at least 12 “quality trout” (14+ inches) per acre. River segments must be at least 2 miles in length and lakes must be a minimum of 50 acres.

Roaring Fork River (22 miles)
Gold Medal water continues for another 22 miles below the confluence with the Fryingpan until the Roaring Fork joins the Colorado River in Glenwood Springs. Typically, swift currents make float fishing preferable for many anglers, but there is wade fishing access surrounding boat ramps at the Bob Terrell State Wildlife Area near Carbondale and the Sam Caudill/West Bank SWA upstream of Glenwood Springs, and small pockets within the town itself. Many hardy brown and rainbow trout can be found in this stretch, along with mountain whitefish.

Our home offers peaceful riverside and fishing seclusion but also convenience, minutes away to downtown Glenwood Springs and Carbondale where you'll find boutiques and excellent restaurants. Local favorites include Riviera Supper Club and Scratch Kitchen, Glenwood Canyon Brewery, The Pullman and Nepal Restaurant, a short walk from our rental home.

Aspen Snowmass & Sunlight Ski Resort is 25 mi away. Sunlight Ski Resort sits at an elevation of nearly 8K feet and if your family is learning to ski, the resort offers exceptional lesson packages for a great value.

During the summer months, fish from your own backyard on Gold Medal waters, tour the area on mountain bike and hike the Rio Grande Trail. Make sure you add Hanging Lake to your trip’s to-do list for a beautiful turquoise lake, waterfall, and breathtaking scenery. In autumn, make time for the Maroon Bells, 25 mi up valley. Be sure to make reservations for entry!
For adrenaline junkies, the area offers whitewater rafting, ATV excursions, horseback riding and even paragliding. Prefer to unwind? Head to Iron Mtn Hot Springs or Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, the world’s largest mineral hot springs pool. Enjoy the 102-degree therapy pool, splash down water slides, relax in lounge chairs, or grab a bite at the poolside restaurant. Families will also love a day at Glenwood Adventure Park and Tram!
